Who We Are

Frontera works with all ages, groups and organizations to involve them in assisting with the restoration work at Resler Canyon. Volunteers also assist with representing Frontera at our booth during local events, clean-ups at Thunder Canyon, as well many other volunteer activities. We seek individual support as well as sponsorships for Frontera's projects and programs which enhance our quality of life through education and the conservation of water, wildlife, farms and ranches as well as natural areas.

The main tool Frontera uses to conserve land and water is with a conservation easement. This is a legal agreement that willing landowners place on their land to restrict the future development on their land or water rights, in perpetuity. This agreement is very flexible with the main objective being the preservation of the resources at that site, be it an active ranch or open space along hills of Franklin Mountains that create a great scenic view.

What We Do

The Frontera Land Alliance is a local non-profit 501 (C) 3, that works to conserve and be stewards of water and land in the region. We focus on farms, ranches, water ways and water sources, as well as open natural lands. Part of our conservation work is completed through education tours, presentations and outreach as well as hands on work days at our nature preserve.

We have conserved over 120 acres in El Paso County to date. A 91 ac. arroyo located on the west side, called Wakeem/Teschner Nature Preserve (Resler Canyon). As well as holding a conservation easement on Thunder Canyon, a 24 ac. arroyo, which is a city owned nature park.
