El Paso Office of Resilience + Sustainability

Who We Are

The City of El Paso Office of Sustainability was established in 2007 to develop, coordinate, and support city-wide sustainability goals and initiatives.

In December 2013, El Paso was selected to join the 100 Resilient Cities Network and was given direct funding to hire a Chief Resilience Officer. With this new direction and support, the Office of Resilience and Sustainability was formed in December 2014, built on the strong foundation of the Office of Sustainability.

Resilience is about a community’s ability to respond positively to change...

El Paso’s ability to be resilient lies in the strength of our culture, our capacity for public engagement & the positive manner in which we choose to shape our own future.

What We Do

Our mission is to leverage our resilience challenges as opportunities while reinforcing our ability to move beyond survival, towards a thriving future.

This office helps foster a culture of resilience + sustainability by supporting residents, businesses, and community organizations reduce their waste, decrease their energy usage, prepare for any kind of disaster, and overall lead more resilient and sustainable lives.
