Community Schools El Paso

A community school is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. The focus is on academics, health and social services, youth and community development. Community engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.

The EPISD Community Schools Program hopes to develop high-functioning community schools at four El Paso ISD campuses: Bowie High School, Guillen Middle School, Hart Elementary Schools and Zavala Elementary School. The schools are located in the Segundo Barrio and Chamizal neighborhoods which have some of the highest indicators of social need in the city.
