Parents as Teachers is currently seeking volunteers for our upcoming 2018 Family Appreciation Event.
The event will be taking place Saturday May 19, 2018. Event will be taking place from 11:00 am-1:00 pm but volunteer shifts will depend on specific task signed up for. We are requesting 9 volunteers (18 + yrs) to assist with grilling and our activity stations.
Sign in Booth- Need 1 volunteer -will assist with ensuring that families who attend the event are checked in and receive their food bracelet and door prize giveaway ticket (one food bracelet per person & door prize ticket per family). Volunteer will arrive at 10:15 in case families begin to arrive early and only be required to stay till 12:30 pm.
Hotdog Grilling-Need 1 Volunteer-will grill hot dogs for families. Will be using 1 propane grills=. Lunch is at 12:00, grilling will begin at 11:30 am. Volunteer must arrive by 11:15 and able to leave after lunch is served to all families (1:00-1:15 ish). Food handlers is required.
Activity Booths-7 volunteers needed: Volunteer’s will assist the parent educators with setting up and implementing their activities with families. 1 Volunteer per activity station. Volunteer will be briefed the day of the event on what the activity consist of. Activities include: Pool Noodle Obstacle Course/Aiming and Throwing, Get and Move Dice, Sensory Station (making “wave bottles” and paper machie hot air balloons) , Mask Making, Rubber Band Banjo Craft, and Cereal Box Rd. Volunteer will be ill be engaging with families and their young children to make activity entertaining. Volunteers will need to arrive by 10:15 and stay till end of event (1:00 pm).
Outdoor event. Please bring hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes to stand in. Entirety of assigned shift must be completed. Volunteers will be fed. Menu item includes hot dog, chips, choice of fruit, small bag of chips, and choice of beverage (water/soda) or pizza. Dress code for event is jeans or shorts and choice of shirt. Will provide identification badge for volunteers to wear day of. 18 years or older.
