Volunteer: Service to the Armed Forces: Military Hospital/Clinic Volunteer (Fort Bliss)

Provide assistance with tasks in a clinical setting; support staff in a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities as well as enhance the morale of patients.

What You’ll Do as a Volunteer:

Support the Red Cross mission by helping where needed. Tasks may include: Answering phones, filing, data entry, and other office work. Providing comfort items or assisting with crafts. Offering bedside or chairside support and sharing helpful information. In clinic settings, you might: Help with surgical prep, charting, reception, or patient preparation. Create welcome packets for wounded warriors. Always maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

Qualifications: 

May need additional security clearance (per government regulations). Able to follow instructions and willing to learn. Works well with others—even in stressful situations. Basic office skills (like filing or data entry). Great customer service and communication skills (including listening). Comfortable working with different personality types. Able to stand for long periods. Willing to follow current public health and Red Cross policies.

Typical Volunteer hours (May Vary)

Monday-Friday 7:30am- 4:30pm

Onboarding required (2 days)

Minimum 4 hour shifts

Disaster Action Teams (DAT) provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Member supports capacity building activities necessary to ensure effective service delivery during a DAT response.


What You’ll Do as a Volunteer: Join regular team meetings and training sessions. Help with important Disaster Action Team (DAT) tasks, such as: Getting vehicles and response materials ready. Assisting with scheduling and supporting team meetings. Helping new volunteers get started and grow as leaders. Providing general administrative support to keep the program running smoothly.


Qualifications: 

Able to follow and carry out supervisor requests with little supervision. Flexible and adaptable—comfortable with change and ambiguity. Can build strong relationships with individuals and groups to support DAT program goals. Willing to follow current public health and Red Cross policies.
