PBS KIDS FIESTA

The PBS Kids Fiesta is an annual event hosted by KCOS your local PBS Station aimed at providing a fun environment for families and children to have access to important educational resources. While families check out the several booths that promote healthy child development and early childhood literacy, they can also watch some amazing performances by local performers. One of the main goals of the event is to empower parents with the necessary tools to sculpt their child’s success. The event is from noon to 5 p.m. on December 7th, 2019 at El Paso Convention Center.
Volunteers are needed in different sections, KCOS offers different volunteer opportunities:
Opportunities
Set-up + Tear Down Volunteers –
Set-up day before: Dec. 6 from 2:00PM-5:30pm
Full Shift: 10:30-5:30
First Shift: 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Tear Down/Second Shift: 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Volunteers will help set-up the booths, help with kids arts and crafts and coloring spaces with other venues.
SURVEY TABLE– 6 for each shift
First Shift: 10:30 – 2:00pm
Second Shift: 2:00 – 5:30pm
Full Shift: 10:30-5:30
FOR ALL 7 hrs, 45 min to 1 hr break would be given.
Volunteers will help Opinion El Paso with the survey it would be on paper with clipboards (in English and Spanish) and we encourage volunteers to be outgoing and respectful with audience to fill the survey.
(Bilingual preferred- also preferred if you can serve for the whole event).
Greeters – 6
First Shift: 10:30 – 2:00pm
Second Shift: 2:00 – 5:30pm
Full Shift: 11:00-5:30
FOR FULL SHIFT 45 min to 1 hr break would be given
Greeters will staff the different areas of the entrance (front, back, etc.) to help welcome guests and point them in the right direction – as well as to give a friendly and welcoming presence!
Also encourage audience to help them find the desire vendor or activity such as curious George photo station or performance of any kind.
VENDOR ASSISTANCE- 6
First Shift: 10:30 – 2:00pm
Second Shift: 2:00 – 5:30pm
Full Shift: 11:00-5:30
FOR FULL SHIFT 45 min to 1 hr break would be given
Volunteers will assist the vendors to help them get more audience, inviting audience and facilitating the search for specific booths and businesses.
KIDS ACTIVITIES
First Shift: 10:30 – 2:00pm
Second Shift: 2:00 – 5:30pm
Full Shift: 10:30-5:30
FOR ALL 7 hrs, 45 min to 1 hr break would be given.
Can be volunteers from other stations, reassigned during this period
Assist development, PBS kids area and other venues through the entire event.
- The attire for this event is jeans or khakis with no holes, a T-shirt of their institution or Organization that they are representing, name tags will be provided.
- We encourage the volunteers to be early for their shifts due to parking and other types of events that may be happening at Downtown El Paso.
- Volunteers need to check in and check out with Amanda Gomez.
- Any type of emergency or time conflict need to be reported with Amanda Gomez.
- We recommend bringing a snack or money for food. (Sorry we can’t host the food because the venue doesn’t allow us to bring in donated food)
