Trained volunteers play an important role in the interdisciplinary hospice team that also includes physicians, nurses, social workers, clergy, administrators and various therapists that provide physical, emotional and spiritual comfort to persons with life-limiting illnesses. Volunteer: Food Pantry Drive

Improving Quality of Life is dedicated to supporting low-income families throughout El Paso County, and we are in need of aid with our Food Pantry Drive. With urgent repairs to kitchen facilities at the El Paso County Housing Authority, access to kitchen facilities is limited, and families are facing significant challenges in securing nutritious meals. To address this urgent need, we are launching a food drive to collect donations of non-perishable items, canned food, cereal boxes, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Background

Fabens is a small rural community with a significant number of low-income families who rely on community resources to meet their basic needs. In partnership with the El Paso County Housing Authority (EPCHA), IQOL has been actively collecting donations of non-perishable items, canned food, cereal boxes, and fresh fruits and vegetables to support these families. However, EPCHA is currently undergoing critical repairs to the kitchens in our housing units, exacerbating the food insecurity faced by our residents.

Ways to Help

To address both the immediate and long-term food security needs of our community, we are seeking community donations and assistance with a food pantry...

Immediate Needs:

Food Donations: Non-perishable items, canned food, cereal boxes, fresh fruits, and vegetables.

Feeding Event Supplies: Tables, chairs, and tents to facilitate food distribution events.

Long-Term Needs:

Food Pantry Infrastructure: Construction of a pantry, shelving units, and storage solutions. Food Storage Equipment: Shelves, refrigerators, freezer, tables and chairs for serving events.
