Chamizal National Memorial

Chamizal NM is a cultural center with 3 indoor art galleries, 1 indoor theater, and 1 outdoor stage. We also house a visitor center and history museum. National Park Rangers and volunteers run Chamizal NM as part of the U.S. government's National Park Service. We typically have theater events (plays, musicals, concerts, recitals) each weekend. In addition, we have large festivals, such as Music Under the Stars, Siglo de Oro, and the Grito. Our art galleries are dedicated to promoting borderland artists and we change shows every 2-3 months. Our visitor center and museum are open 5 days a week, receiving visitors from around the world.

Chamizal National Memorial promotes friendship between the U.S. and Mexico, as well as provides visitor opportunities to learn about and experience cultures from around the world. As a part of the National Park Service, we also promote education, environmental ethics, and volunteerism throughout the nation, and around the world, for us and future generations. Chamizal NM was founded in 1966 to commemorate the peaceful settlement of a century-long boundary dispute between the U.S. and Mexico along the Rio Grande. In 1974, the park grounds were opened to visitors as Chamizal National Monument.
