Who We Are
FSEP provides counseling in the areas of depression, anxiety, relationship problems, child and youth issues and to the mentally ill. FSEP has made its services affordable, accessible, attainable and culturally competent in order to eliminate access barriers. It is our policy that no one should forgo counseling services because they cannot afford it. We charge individuals on a sliding fee scale and seek funding from a variety of sources to be able to provice services at no cost whenever possible. FSEP is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
What We Do
Our purpose for existing in the El Paso community is to make counseling available to anyone regardless of ability to pay. We target our services to the poor and the disadvantaged. FSEP was founded in 1893 by the Ladies Benevolent Society. Throughout its history it has had different names and has delivered different services. Since 1963 it has concentrated its services in mental health counseling. Its focus the past 10 years has been to eliminate barriers that prevent individuals from accessing counseling and to increase the availability of counseling. During this past decade FSEP has doubled the number of clients that it serves from 1,000 clients to over 2,000. In 2009 FSEP provided over 10,500 counseling sessions. FSEP is funded thru grants, contracts, United Way of El Paso and its bingo fundraiser. Its budget is approximately 1 million dollars.
