Who We Are
Rio Grande Borderland Ministries (RGBM) is a ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande serving in the borderlands of New Mexico and Far West Texas. RGBM has been engaging with long-term systemic needs on the border for decades by working collaboratively to provide humanitarian support to vulnerable people in our border communities. We help to ensure that our migrant neighbors are embraced in the service of justice, the interest of dignity, and the spirit of love. The compassionate response of RGBM is simple — to feed, shelter, and care for our neighbors on both sides of the border.
What We Do
Provide relief, advocacy, and development. Given the unpredictable nature of the current asylum process, RGBM is working to support shelters on the south side of the Texas/Mexico border that spans from Juarez to the easternmost edge of Big Bend National Park. The ministry of our Bridge Chaplain, Ana Reza, seeks to welcome our neighbors at the border with dignity. RGBM works in collaboration with advocacy organizations in pursuit of sustainable person-focused policy that enables our border communities to welcome with dignity. We have partnered with Boquillas and Beyond Mexico Mission to improve conditions in the villages of Boquillas, San Vincente, La Union, Jaboncillos and Los Norias. Our collaboration with Heart Nature Giving supports the sustainability project at our sister shelters in Juarez.
