The Community Outreach Internships helps young Latina women thrive personally, academically and professionally as they grow as leaders and make an impact in the community. This is a volunteer role with remote projects, flexible schedules, and in-person special events with a commitment of 4 months at 10 hours a week. These internships are designed to provide meaningful professional experience, portfolio-building opportunities and ownership of real projects that make a direct impact in the community. The program is geared towards current college students and recent college graduates. Interns will work alongside a collaborative team while contributing to outreach initiatives that support youth leadership, education, mentorship, women empowerment and children’s causes.
INTERN ROLE:
Community Outreach & Engagement
- Attend community events, outreach activities, and networking opportunities
- Support outreach tied to educational programming and community-wide initiatives
- Help coordinate logistics for outreach events at local shelters and community sites
- Support community awareness campaigns and volunteer recruitment efforts
- Assist with outreach to community organizations, business groups, and stakeholders
Communications & Public Relations
- Gain exposure to nonprofit communications and public affairs strategy
- Learn how integrated communications campaigns are developed and executed
- Support public relations efforts tied to education initiatives and community programs
- Draft outreach materials, talking points, partnership communications, and event messaging
- Assist with development of media kits and community outreach materials
- Help maintain and organize media lists, outreach databases, and partner contact lists
Leadership & Program Support
- Serve as a mentor and role model for teen leaders in our program
- Assist with planning and leading workshops, volunteer projects, and special events
- Help in development empowerment programs for women and youth development projects
- Help organize sponsor and partner communications for major initiatives
- Research potential community partnerships and collaboration opportunities
- Support documentation of outreach activity and engagement tracking
